This is what I did:I contacted vive instant message chat tech support and it helped me. I got mine fixed. I did a power cycle on the link box by doing these steps: 1:Quit Steam VR. I closed it and tried opening it again. After it did it showed error saying "SteamVR Fail. A key component of SteamVR isn't working properly. I tried to but steam then started not responding.
I closed it and then tried to open it again. I then successfully uninstalled it and then reinstalled it. I then created the system report file and sent it to the agent. He told me how to reset the drivers. Here's how: First, download the latest graphics driver for your video card. This might require a restart but you don't have to because the USB Drivers requires a restart and you can take care of them both with one restart.
Unplug all Link Box cables from your PC. Once this is complete, quit SteamVR. Restart your PC. This will reinstall all Vive USB drivers. I did this and It throughout this process and even after SteamVR has been showing a message saying "Some add-ons blocked.
Due to a recent crash, some SteamVR add-ons have been blocked. So, I hope this guide helps anyone who has had the same issue as me :. Last edited by Stargrooves ; 18 Aug, pm.

No joy to that approach either I'm afraid. Windows 10 picked up 3 new devices and installed the drivers for them, launched SteamVR and tried firmware update again and sure enough it failed after mins on step 1 of 2. View Profile View Posts.
Oh oh. Have fun with the support. If you are located in Europe, just use the US support by chat otherwise you are lost in space. I think they never got a Vive in their hands - Firstlevel Support. Wahapainan View Profile View Posts. I had this issue as well.
I re-installed the driver through the SteamVR app and it made everything work fine, was able to update. If I reboot I have to do this process every time though in order for the driver to work correctly. Other than this I don't have any issues with any apps or games. Hi Wahapainan, do you have any steps for reinstalling the driver please?
I wonder, why there is no simple factory reset button. Only god knows why Micky: Your Problem was solved by the support already and someone posted this instruction to do a manually firmware update.
